SNAP Recipients: Extra SNAP Payments end in February

The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is assisting the Virginia Department of Social Services in highlighting an important change in SNAP benefits that will affect many of those we serve. Congress has set an end date for the special SNAP emergency allotments begun in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The last issuance of those emergency allotment benefits will occur on Thursday, February 16, 2023, through an automated Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card transaction. After that date, households receiving SNAP benefits will receive only their standard SNAP benefit amount on the 1st, 4th, or 7th day of the month, as usual, beginning in March 2023.

Those needing more information about this change are asked to visit www.dss.virginia.gov/benefit/snap.cgi or contact the Department of Social Service's temporary information line at 1 (855) 635-4370 on Monday through Friday between 7 AM and 6 PM.
