Publix Charities Awards $20,000 Grant to FRFB
Publix Super Markets Charities recently awarded a $20,000 grant to the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank in support of our Agency Marketplace. The grant will equip our Agency Marketplace with commercial reach-in refrigeration display units to enhance our storage capacity of available fresh products to our community partners as they seek additional food commodities while at our warehouse picking up pre-ordered food items to supply their distribution activities.
"This generous grant from Publix Charities will allow us to continue our work, providing nutritious food to our neighbors in need when it is needed most," said Mishelle Krogstad, Director of Agency Relations. "Publix has been a great supporter of the food bank and are committed to our vision of replacing food scarcity with food security."
The founder of Publix Super Markets, the late George Jenkins, believed in giving. In 1966, Jenkins established Publix Super Markets Charities with a commitment to meeting the basic needs of the communities Publix serves. Since 2015, Publix Super Markets Charities has contributed more than $32.5 million to hunger-related programs.
