Dayle Reschick Celebrates 26 Years at FRFB!

Dayle Reschick, Director of Finance & Human Resources, just celebrated 26 years with the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank. Dayle calls her decision to come to the FRFB somewhat of a midlife crisis, "I had worked my entire career until then with work goals that included increasing the bottom line and profitability of a private corporation. And then I made a conscious decision to give back to the community and use my skills to help the less fortunate in my community."

Dayle recalls that the food bank operated out of a 5,000 square foot warehouse with a tractor-trailer size freezer and a cooler that only held about 6 pallets of product. There were only 6 employees and sometimes there were not enough funds in the bank to make payroll. "Oya <former CEO> would go to Mosque and I would go to Mass and we would pray to God to help us keep the place open. Come Monday, the mail would deliver us the funds we needed to pay the staff and the rest of the bills. God never left us," recalls Dayle.

A familiar and beloved face at the FRFB, Dayle has become far more than her title might suggest to members of the community and the people she works with. FRFB President & CEO, Dan Maher, shares "Dayle has dedicated a significant portion of her life to fighting hunger through her many years at the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank. The staff and volunteers here are indebted to her for her example of compassion and her service as a leader within the organization. Perhaps without knowing so, those who have benefited from the services of the Food Bank also have been impacted by her faithfulness in fulfilling her work duties. Her daily efforts have been impactful in helping the organization's response to community needs grow stronger throughout her years here."

A resident of Fredericksburg since attending Mary Washington College (now University of Mary Washington) where she majored in history with the original intent to be a teacher, she laid down roots after meeting and marrying her husband. She has been married to Richard for 45 years. Their daughter was just 14 years old when she started at the FRFB. Dayle and Richard, who often volunteers to deliver food boxes to seniors, now are proud grandparents to a 5-year-old little girl. They attend St. Mary's Catholic Church and Dayle also volunteers at St. Vincent dePaul with their financial assistance program.

After spending 9 months as interim CEO in the midst of a pandemic following the retirement of Oya Oliver, Dayle is looking forward to retirement in the not-so-distant future. She would love to go to the Grand Canyon, take a cruise to Alaska, and explore the UK.
