What is the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)?

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) helps improve the health of low-income seniors aged 60 and older by providing monthly boxes of nutritious USDA foods. These boxes include items like fruits, vegetables, milk, protein, whole grains, and a loaf of cheddar cheese.

Key FAQs

  • Can someone else pick up my food box? Yes, you can designate a proxy to pick up your box. Both you and the proxy will need to show ID.
  • What is included in the monthly food box? A mix of shelf-stable foods, such as canned fruits and vegetables, juice, milk, proteins, whole grains, and cheddar cheese.

How to Apply for CSFP

Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank has staff available to assist with the application process. CSFP food is provided in addition to any food you may already receive from regular pantry distributions.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be 60 years or older.
  • Household income must meet CSFP income guidelines (see chart below).
Who qualifies for CSFP?

CSFP is available to individuals at least 60 years of age, whose income is within the limits listed in the chart below.
