Often when I meet someone they will ask me, "What do you do?" I love telling them I work at the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank and we help feed thousands of hungry people every day. But I always tell them that what we do isn't nearly as important as why we do it.

I tell them about Sarah's parents....both working, but after the rent, utilities and other expenses are paid, they often don't have enough left over to buy groceries.

I tell them about Helen. She lost her husband of 50 years to cancer a few years back. Living on one fixed income doesn't go far, often times not to the end of the month, especially when you add in the cost of medications she needs to take.

At the Food Bank we help serve families in crisis by distributing food through local agencies and programs including emergency food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, and elder care centers.

But we can't do it alone. We need your help.

You can partner with the Food Bank and help make sure children, families and seniors in our community get the food they need. With every $10 donated, you can help provide enough food for 30 meals in our community.

Hungry children, seniors and families are why we do what  we do. This is such important work and you can be a part of it. Can we count on your support today? Together we can solve hunger.

Oya Oliver, CEO
