SNAP

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

What SNAP Does:

With SNAP you get an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card. You use the EBT card like a debit card to buy food at grocery stores. SNAP puts benefits on the EBT card once a month.

Who Can Apply:

SNAP is for people and families with low income, whether they are working or not. Anyone can apply. If you qualify, you will receive SNAP. The amount you receive on your EBT card each month depends on your income, your assets, and your family size. To see if you qualify, and the approximate amount you would receive, try the SNAP Pre-Screening Tool here.

Where Can You Apply:

In Virginia, you can apply trough your local Department of Social Services office or you can apply online here. Below you can find a list of DSS offices in our service area.
